CVE-2017-3163: Apache Solr ReplicationHandler path traversal attack

official-apache-solr-security · Original source

Published 15 Feb 2017, 00:00 UTC

An unvalidated filename in the Index Replication API could allow a requester to read files accessible to the Solr server process. Firewalling or authentication limits exposure to trusted clients and users.

However, Solr did not validate the file name, hence it was possible to craft a special request involving path traversal, leaving any file readable to the Solr server process exposed.

Apache Solr

Fixed versions: 6.4.1, 5.5.4

Prerequisites: When using the Index Replication feature
