In SolrCloud, an untrusted user able to submit SQL queries to the /sql handler can exploit an XXE vulnerability. The announcement advises disabling the handler or upgrading to Solr 9.1; it mentions a possible Solr 8.11.3 option if released.
If an untrusted user can supply SQL queries to Solr’s “/sql” handler (even indirectly via proxies / other apps), then the user could perform an XML External Entity (XXE) attack.

Fixed versions: Solr 9.1
Prerequisites: SolrCloud mode; untrusted user can supply SQL queries to Solr’s “/sql” handler
